How do I take a screen shot to show the Help Desk a problem? (using Windows)
Why do we do this? Screen shots can greatly help in solving a helpdesk issue because it shows exactly what the user is encountering. It can prevent complications from being lost in translation, like the saying goes “A picture is worth a thousand words”. There are many ways to accomplish this, the Print Screen key, is one of them.
Answer
1. Bring up the webpage/email/error message that is causing the difficulty, try to show the problem on the screen.
2. Press the ‘Print Screen’ button on the keyboard. Some laptops may need to use the Function (Fn) button + the Print Screen key (or other combination of buttons unique to the manufacturer).
3. Nothing may appear to happen, this is normal, the whole screen(s) has been copied to the clipboard.
4. Open the Microsoft Paint application and click on ‘Paste’ in the top left. The screen capture will appear.
5. Save the file and attach it in an email to the Helpdesk at Blackboardhelpdesk@franzello.libanswers.com
